Plans for a large-scale residential development, including a three-storey creche has been submitted to Meath County Council.

Earlsfort Developments Drogheda Limited has proposed to deliver 249 new residential units on lands east of the M1 motorway and west of Rathmullan Road in Oldbridge, Drogheda, Meath.

The development includes 170 two-storey houses (37 two-bedroom, 111 three-bedroom, and 22 four-bedroom), 16 three-storey duplex buildings with 16 one-bedroom and 16 two-bedroom units, and a combination of three- and four-storey apartment blocks providing 22 one-bedroom and 25 two-bedroom apartments.

The planned three-storey creche would measure 411 square metres and include external play areas and dedicated car and bicycle parking.

The development also features a new vehicular entrance and access road from Rathmullan Road, along with an internal road network with pedestrian and cyclist infrastructure.

Each house will have private rear gardens, duplex units will include balcony or terrace spaces, and apartment residents will have communal amenity areas with private balconies or terraces.

Meanwhile other works include the demolition of existing farm buildings, landscaping, public open space to the north of the site, boundary treatments, drainage and attenuation systems, a pumping station, and an ESB substation.

Two pedestrian and cyclist connections to Rathmullan Road have also been proposed. The application is accompanied by a Natura Impact Statement (NIS) and an Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR).

Meath County Council will now assess the application, with a decision expected in the coming months.
