By Sylvia Omorodion, Independent.ie

Plans to construct a new agricultural building in Trim have been lodged with Meath County Council, as the developer seeks approval for a major expansion of its dairy operations.

The application, submitted by Roristown Ltd, proposes the development of a substantial agricultural complex at Roristown, Trim.

The project includes a new milking parlour, dairy and ancillary rooms, drafting and handling facilities, a waiting yard, and an external milk silo.

A meal bin, a water storage tank and underground slatted soiled-water storage tanks are also planned, along with dedicated calving and calf-rearing areas.

A second livestock shed is proposed, providing cubicles, a straw-bedded area, feeding space and additional underground slatted slurry storage.

Roristown Ltd is additionally seeking permission for two silage pits, a maize pit, a dungstead and all associated site works required for the expansion.

The applicant confirmed that a Natura Impact Statement (NIS) was included in the submission, as the project must be assessed for any potential impacts on protected habitats or species.

Meath County Council will now consider the proposal, which was submitted on November 3.
