Plans lodged for assisted living apartment development in Meath turned down by council

A residential assisted living apartment development has been turned down for one of Meath’s fastest growing towns.

Star Stone Property Investments Limited had applied to develop a new part-single, part-three, and part-four-storey apartment block comprising 21 assisted living units at a site just off Ashbourne’s Declan Street in Ashbourne.

The proposed scheme included 20 one-bedroom apartments and one two-bedroom unit.

The application proposed changes to the existing site, including the removal of fencing and alterations to the car park ramp behind Killegland Walk. A compliant pedestrian access ramp, modifications to the vehicular access road, and upgrades to surrounding footpaths were also part of the plan.

A total of 21 car parking spaces were to be allocated to the development — four in an existing surface car park to the north, and 17 within a two-storey car park to the rear. An additional parking space was proposed for eight bicycle parking slots in the same structure.

The proposal also included a bin store, ESB meter room, switch room, and substation at ground level to the rear of the site, along with associated landscaping and drainage works.

The planning permission was lodged in last year and despite the submission of further information, the planning authority ultimately declined the application.
