Plans lodged for 85 new homes in Meath

A new residential development of 85 homes has been proposed for Trim following a planning application lodged with Meath County Council.
The scheme, proposed by Greenwalk Home Limited on a 2.65-hectare site off the Athboy Road, would deliver 73 houses and 12 apartments/duplex units, along with new public open space and associated infrastructure.
The plans include six two-bedroom houses, 64 three-bedroom houses, and three four-bedroom houses, all two storeys in height. In addition, a three-storey apartment block would provide six ground-floor one-bedroom apartments and six three-bedroom duplex units above, each with private terraces or amenity space.
Vehicular and pedestrian access is proposed from the Athboy Road through the existing Belfry estate, while a temporary construction access is planned from adjoining agricultural lands to the west.
The development would provide 161 resident car parking spaces, including visitor and EV charging points, as well as 114 cycle parking spaces spread across apartments and terraced house shelters. Internal roads, shared surfaces, and pedestrian paths are also planned.
A central landscaped open space of 0.49 hectares, integrating with existing green areas in The Belfry, is proposed along with a children’s play area and additional planting.
Other works include foul and surface water drainage, bin stores, public lighting, ESB substations, and landscaping.
A Natura Impact Statement has been prepared and submitted as part of the application, which is now under consideration by Meath County Council. A decision is expected in the coming months.
