Plans lodged for 64-unit independent living scheme in Meath coastal area

By Sylvia Omorodion, Irish Independent

Plans have been lodged for a 64-unit independent living development in Mornington, Co Meath.

Calmont Ventures Ltd has applied to Meath County Council for permission to construct the housing scheme on a 2.2-hectare site in Donacarney Little.

The proposed development would consist of 56 single-storey and dormer-style semi-detached and terraced homes, ranging from one to two-bedroom units, along with an additional two-storey building.

That building would contain eight one-bedroom apartments at ground and first floor level, as well as a community use space of approximately 150 sq m at ground floor level.

Access to the development is proposed via the existing entrance onto the Church Road (R150).

The scheme also includes surface car parking, bicycle and bin storage, landscaped areas, boundary treatments, pedestrian and vehicular access routes, and associated site works.

Infrastructure works would include service connections, public lighting, foul and surface water drainage systems with attenuation, and water supply.

The site is located to the rear (west) of Star of the Sea Church and north of the Maydenhayes housing estate in Donacarney Little, Mornington.

A Natura Impact Statement was submitted as part of the planning application.
