By Sylvia Omorodion, Independent.ie

Popular guest accommodation in Navan is set to expand, with plans approved to convert an existing dwelling on Limekiln Hill into 11 ensuite guest bedrooms.

The development is part of an extension to Ma Dwyer’s Guest Accommodation. Submitted by Sumbury on Thames Ltd, the plans include internal modifications and changes to the building’s elevations to accommodate the works.

Other works involve blocking the existing entrance, constructing a mono-pitch plant room or store at the rear, and providing 17 car parking spaces accessible via Ma Dwyer’s current entrance and exit.

The plan also includes a new stone wall to replace the front boundary, a new emergency entrance on the east side of the property, upgrades to mains services, and the construction of retaining walls with landscaping to the side and rear. All associated site works will also be carried out.

Significant further information and revised plans were submitted during the application process, which was granted planning permission on 2 February 2026.

The expansion is expected to increase accommodation capacity in Navan, supporting the town’s growing hospitality sector.
