Overnight water outage planned in Meath for essential maintenance works

By Sylvia Omorodion, Independent.ie

Residents in Enfield and surrounding areas are being advised of a planned overnight water outage as Uisce Éireann carries out essential maintenance at the Enfield Water Treatment Plant.

The works are scheduled to take place from 10pm on Tuesday, October 28 until 6am on Wednesday, October 29.

During this time, customers may experience supply disruptions, reduced water pressure, or temporary discolouration.

Uisce Éireann’s Michael Cunniffe said crews will work to complete the maintenance as quickly as possible to restore normal service.

“We acknowledge the inconvenience caused by a planned outage and we thank customers in advance for their patience while we carry out these essential works at the treatment plant,” he said.

It typically takes two to three hours for full water supply to return following an outage, though residents on higher ground or at the end of the network may experience longer delays.

According to Uisce Éireann, when supply returns, some people may notice discoloured water. The utility advises running the cold kitchen tap for several minutes — up to 20 minutes if necessary — until the water runs clear.

Updates on this work can be found on the Uisce Éireann Supply and Service map.
