Overnight water outage in Meath areas to facilitate ‘essential’ works

By Sylvia Omorodion, Independent.ie

Meath residents living in Bettystown, Laytown, and surrounding areas should expect a temporary water supply interruption overnight, Uisce Éireann has said.

The outage from 8pm on Tuesday, October 7, until 8am on Wednesday, October 8 is said to be necessary to carry out essential maintenance work on the local water network, with the timing chosen to minimise disruption to households and businesses.

Enda Cully of Uisce Éireann thanked customers for their understanding: “We wish to acknowledge the inconvenience caused by a planned outage and assure affected customers that crews will complete the works as quickly as possible to restore normal water supply by Wednesday morning.”

Once repairs are completed, it typically takes two to three hours for water supply to fully return. Residents on higher ground or at the end of the network may experience a slightly longer delay.

The water body added that during the restoration process, some households may notice low water pressure or temporary water discolouration, which is a normal part of the system returning to full operation.
