Over €300,000 awarded to East Meath community clubs and schools

East Meath community groups and organisations have been awarded more than €300,000 under this year’s Indaver Community Grants Scheme.
Local Fianna Fáil councillor and Chairman of the Indaver Community Liaison Committee, Stephen McKee welcomed the news.
He said: “As Chairman of the Indaver Community Liaison Committee, I am delighted to have played a key role along with my Committee colleagues in securing over €300,000 worth of funding for various clubs and organisations in the East Meath area.”
Among the main beneficiaries are local GAA clubs and community facilities, which will receive a total of €140,000.
“The Duleek Community Facility receives €102,667 towards a new walking track and pitch development, St. Colmcille’s GFC receive €21,000 towards their new club shop and storage facility, while St. Mary’s Donore will receive €16,471 for the installation of new lighting and a walking track,” he said.
Local soccer clubs, including Duleek AFC, Cloghertown United FC, and Drogheda Town, also received funding for projects benefiting both members and the wider community.
Other recipients include Duleek Revival, Julianstown & District Community Association, Solas 21 Donore, and Duleek Heritage Group.
Cllr McKee also showed support for local schools, including Knockcommon NS, Duleek NS, and Bellewstown NS, with funding for playground upgrades and outdoor seating.
The Indaver Community Grants Scheme is funded through a levy under the planning conditions of the Indaver Waste-to-Energy facility and managed by the Community Liaison Committee.
“The fund provides financial assistance to local community-based clubs and voluntary organisations for the development of community projects and works in the locality,” Cllr McKee said.
“There is a limited fund available, but I am pleased that so many local groups and organisations will benefit this year from the Scheme. They make a huge contribution to our communities,” he added.
