New Navan festival to debut on ‘modest scale’ with up to €600 funding for local groups

A new festival is set to light up Meath this summer as Navan hosts the inaugural Navan Midsummer Festival this June.
The three-day event, supported by Meath County Council and Boyne Valley Tourism, will celebrate midsummer and the solstice, Navan as the county town, and the heritage of the wider Boyne Valley, particularly the traditions linked to the Hill of Tara.
Organisers said the first year will begin on a “modest scale,” with plans to grow it into a flagship annual festival combining tourism, culture, and community engagement.
"We are developing an inclusive programme across the three days, featuring music, comedy, storytelling, local food, arts, family workshops, talks, and heritage‑focused activities,” they said.
Local businesses and community groups are invited to submit an expression of interest to host events reflecting the area’s culture, creativity, and “strong sense of place”.
Meanwhile, funding of up to €600 per business or community group is available to support approved activities.
Applications must be submitted by Friday, March 13, 2026, to info@discoverboynevalley.ie.
Meath County Council and Boyne Valley Tourism added that they will not "held responsible” for health and safety, insurance, or other management matters.
“The event is solely the responsibility of the individual organiser(s),” they said.
The festival will take place from 19 to 21 June 2026.
