New glamping development proposed for Meath

By Sylvia Omorodion, Independent.ie

Plans for a glamping site in Castletown, Tara have been lodged with Meath County Council.

The application, submitted by Paul Kearns and Kathryn Walley on November 27, proposes the construction of five one-bedroom detached glamping units, each with private amenity space, alongside a communal amenity area.

The development would also include seven car parking spaces, bicycle parking for eight bicycles, a service building with reception, office and utility room, and a proprietary wastewater treatment system with polishing filter.

New infrastructure would feature an entrance, driveway and walkways, along with all associated site works necessary to facilitate the project.

If approved, the glamping site could expand tourism and leisure options in the Tara area, known for its historic and natural attractions.

The Hill of Tara, with its historic monuments and views over the surrounding countryside, attracts thousands of visitors each year, making the area a popular destination for heritage and nature tourism.
