New cycle and pedestrian scheme set to transform Navan streets

Construction is set to begin on the Martha's Bridge to Circular Road Cycle and Pedestrian Scheme in Meath, a key upgrade to Navan’s cycling infrastructure.
As part of the proposed Navan Town Cycle Network and funded by the National Transport Authority, the project aims to improve pedestrian and cyclist safety across the town.
The scheme will deliver over 1 kilometre of segregated cycle lanes along the R147 (Dublin Road), linking existing cycle facilities from Johnstown to Circular Road.
The traffic junction at Martha’s Bridge will be upgraded to improve connections to Johnstown, and the Academy Street junction will be signalised to enhance safety.
The project also includes landscaping improvements and an upgrade of public lighting along the route.
Work will start the week of September 8 with the establishment of a site compound and temporary traffic management, with roadworks expected to begin the following week.
