New bus stop and road upgrades mark progress on Navan Town Scheme

Progress on the Navan Town Scheme continues, with the construction of a new bus stop on Paddy O’Brien Street and significant road and streetscape improvements completed across the town, according to a Fine Gael councillor.
Navan councillor John Duffy took to social media to highlight works that have progressed on the Navan 2030 project.
On Fairgreen, The contractor has finished road works and line marking, with the road now reopened to two-way traffic. Remaining works in this area include the installation of street furniture, landscaping, and final “snagging” tasks.
A steel pole adjacent to St Anne’s Loreto Primary School, which previously supported overhead power cables and fibre broadband, has been decommissioned and is expected to be removed by the ESB in the coming weeks. Once removed, paving works at the footpath and school entrance will be completed.
Upgrade works are continuing on Bakery Lane, covering the section from the archway to Fairgreen.
In Old Cornmarket laneway, new public lighting has been commissioned, with further lighting, localised paving, signage, and snagging works planned in the coming weeks.
Construction is progressing on Paddy O’Brien Street, where a new bus stop is being developed opposite Eason’s. A temporary traffic management plan, including a one-way system, is in place, and the bus stop has been temporarily relocated to the Kennedy Road bus interchange for the duration of the works.
Meanwhile, work to remove the old render from the retaining wall on Circular Road has begun.
According to Cllr Duffy, Navan Municipal District’s Town Enhancement and Parks crews have also been busy carrying out seasonal landscaping maintenance and clearing fallen leaves from footpaths.
