More than €800,000 available to support community-led climate action projects across Meath

A fund of €811,000 is now available to support community-led climate action projects across Meath as Phase Two of the Community Climate Action Programme officially begins.
Administered locally by Meath County Council, community organisations with an interest in sustainability and climate initiatives can apply for the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment funding.
The programme will support small, medium, and large-scale projects that help to build low-carbon, sustainable communities.
According to the local authority, this year’s projects must align with the theme “Building Low Carbon Communities.”
The new round follows a successful first phase, which saw the same amount of funding distributed among 25 community projects across the county.
Those initiatives addressed areas such as improving the energy efficiency of community buildings, developing small-scale renewable energy projects, promoting sustainable travel, supporting local food growing, reducing waste, encouraging the circular economy, and enhancing biodiversity to build climate resilience.
Angela Loughran, Community Climate Action Officer with Meath County Council, encouraged local organisations to get involved.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for local community organisations which will enable them to contribute to national climate and energy targets,” she said.
“This fund will support small and large, rural and urban communities to take climate action and make positive changes to their communities.”
Applications are open until December 9, and Meath County Council is encouraging all eligible groups to submit project proposals that can help create a more sustainable future for the county.
