Meath set for major equestrian project with stables and farmhouse conversion

By Sylvia Omorodion, Independent.ie

Plans for a major equestrian project have been lodged with Meath County Council.

The proposal, submitted by Eddie Brewer, seeks to use existing land in Tara, Co. Meath, for equestrian purposes and includes the retention of two stable buildings with a combined capacity for up to 22 horses.

The development would also feature a sand arena, a horse walker, external lighting, and other associated equine facilities.

The plans include the demolition of a detached building currently used as a farm office, which was a “former an unapproved dwelling.”

The retention of existing hardstanding for parking, and the closure of an existing entrance with the creation of a new vehicular access served by a new internal driveway, are also part of the proposal.

The site will be connected to the mains water system.

Additionally, the application proposes retaining a third stable building, which would be converted into a single-floor farmhouse with two bedrooms, a combined kitchen/living area, and ancillary utility and wardrobe space.

A secondary wastewater treatment facility with a polishing filter, along with equine waste storage facilities for off-site disposal by an approved contractor, are also included.
