Meath sees ‘accelerated progress’ in new home completions

By Sylvia Omorodion, Independent.ie

Almost 500 homes were completed in Meath during the second quarter of 2025, new housing figures show.

According to the latest data, 482 new homes were completed in Meath between April and June—up from 381 in the same period last year.

Fine Gael Senator Linda Nelson Murray described the increase as "signs of accelerated progress" in delivering much-needed housing.

“The signs of this accelerated progress to deliver homes is evident here in Meath,” Ms Nelson Murray said.

“We all know supply is central to dealing with the key issues we face in housing, so the figures will come as a relief to families and individuals in Meath who will live in these homes.”

Nationally, 9,214 new dwellings were completed during the same three-month period, representing a 35pc increase compared to 2024. Over half of those completions were part of housing schemes, while apartments accounted for 33pc and single dwellings made up 17pc.

“Behind these figures are the people, individuals, couples and families, who now own their own homes in Meath.”

“We know there is more to do to ramp up housing delivery and we are determined to accelerate the pace of housing delivery in Meath.”

The Senator added the housing completion figures demonstrate what is “happening around us in Meath” and that more houses are coming on the market.
