Two football clubs in Meath have lodged planning applications to improve their facilities, aiming to enhance training grounds, match-day experiences, and community engagement.

Drogheda Town FC applied for permission from Meath County Council to upgrade its existing training grounds at Platin and Lagavooren, Drogheda, Co. Meath.

The proposed development includes the construction of two new natural grass football pitches with perimeter fencing, a ballstop netting system, and a modern drainage system.

Additional works include importing soil by-product and reseeding the site. The plans also feature a community walkway around the perimeter and a dedicated biodiversity area, along with all associated site works.

In a separate application, Carnaross GFC submitted a retention application for the installation of two precast concrete dugouts on its second pitch in Meenlagh, Carnaross.

The application also covers all associated site development works, supporting the club’s ongoing efforts to improve local sports facilities.
