Meath football club seeks permission for clubhouse upgrades and new floodlights

A Meath football club has submitted plans for a series of upgrades to its facilities, including the installation of new floodlights.

Kentstown Rovers FC lodged a planning application with Meath County Council seeking permission for improvements at the Old School Hall, School Road, Kentstown.

Founded in 1979, the long-established club competes in the Meath District League, the North East Football League (NEFL), and the North East Counties Schoolboys/Girls League (NECSL).

The proposed works include an extension to the side of the existing clubhouse and the addition of a covered pergola viewing area.

The plans also feature two new rooflights in the existing roof, the replacement of a roller shutter door on the front elevation with a single leaf door and window, and internal modifications to enhance the building’s functionality.

In a major upgrade for evening and winter training, the club also plans to install six 15-metre-high floodlights around the pitch. Associated site works are also included in the proposal.

From humble beginnings with just “one borrowed pitch”, Kentstown Rovers has grown significantly over the decades.

Today, the club boasts a modern main pitch and clubhouse with four dressing rooms at Paul Lenehan Memorial Park, along with extensive facilities at Greenstar Park — a seven-acre site developed in conjunction with Greenstar.
