Meath Dog Shelter at capacity and unable to accept surrenders

By Sylvia Omorodion, Independent.ie

Meath County Council has announced that the dog shelter is currently at full capacity and, as a result, is unable to accept dog surrenders for the time being.

In a statement shared with the public on social media, Meath Dog Shelter said: “We are at capacity here at the shelter and really need to find loving homes for our dogs. Unfortunately, we can no longer take surrenders for the next little while."

The Council also confirmed that the matter will be reviewed later this month and expressed “regret for any inconvenience caused.”

While surrenders are paused, the shelter remains active in rehoming efforts and continues to provide care for stray and seized dogs in line with statutory responsibilities.

Members of the public are encouraged to consider adoption or fostering if they are in a position to help.

For more information or to inquire about adoption, contact Meath Dog Shelter or visit the Meath County Council website.
