By Sylvia Omorodion, Independent.ie

Meath County Council is set to host an information event offering practical guidance and expert insights for owners and custodians of historic buildings

While the exact date is not yet confirmed, the Built Heritage Information evening will take place in September 2025. The evening seminar will focus on key areas such as legislation, maintenance, conservation practices, and grant supports available for Protected Structures, Vernacular Buildings, and properties located in Architectural Conservation Areas (ACAs).

Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a Q&A session with Meath County Council’s Conservation Officer, Robert Miles, and hear directly from previous grant recipients who will share their experiences of maintaining and restoring heritage properties.

The council will also provide a range of informational booklets designed to support the care of specific structure types, including thatched roofs, ruins, stone walls, and traditional farm buildings. Additional resources on ACAs in Meath will also be available.

The event is free of charge, but booking is essential as places are limited. The council is now accepting expressions of interest for the event until Friday, July 11 at 5pm.

A formal invitation confirming the date and time of the September event will be sent to registered participants.
