Meath County Council refreshes sports funding programme for 2026

Sports organisations across Meath are being invited to take part in a newly refreshed funding programme designed to increase participation and strengthen local sporting opportunities.
Meath County Council, working in partnership with Meath Local Sports Partnership, has officially opened an Expressions of Interest process for 2026, offering new opportunities for eligible national governing bodies.
The programme has been designed to support sports development and increase participation across the county, with a strong focus on disadvantaged communities, women (teenage girls and women), ethnic minority groups, persons with a disability, and men over the age of 35.
As part of the refresh, applicants will have the chance to apply for two distinct streams of funding.
The first offers support for programme taster sessions, providing grants of up to €5,000 for short-term projects aimed at introducing specific groups or communities to new sporting opportunities.
The second stream is geared towards longer-term development, with funding available to support part-time and full-time development officers, ranging from €15,000 to €30,000 over a period of up to three years.
Organisations interested in applying will need to demonstrate “clear alignment” with the objectives of both Meath County Council and Meath Local Sports Partnership.
Expressions of Interest are now being accepted online, and Meath County Council is encouraging eligible sporting National Governing Bodies (NGBs) to put forward innovative proposals that will enhance sports participation and development throughout Meath.
The closing date for applications is 12pm on Friday, September 26, 2025.
