Lidl seeks planning permission for new supermarket in Meath

Lidl shoppers may be set to see major changes in Navan as the retailer has lodged a planning application for a brand new supermarket with Meath County Council.
The new development would replace the existing Lidl outlet in the town and deliver a larger, more modern store.
According to the plans, the project involves a single-storey licensed discount food store with a mono-pitch roof and an internal mezzanine plant deck.
The supermarket would have a gross floor space of approximately 2,598 square metres, with a net retail sales area of around 1,743 square metres, and include ancillary off-licence sales.
The proposal also includes the reconfiguration and expansion of car parking, along with revised traffic and pedestrian circulation routes.
A new vehicular and pedestrian access is planned from Reask Road, together with a pedestrian link towards Beaufort College and St. Columba’s Crescent.
Meanwhile, other features of the application cover freestanding and building-mounted signage, a covered trolley bay, external refrigeration and air-handling equipment, an ESB substation, roof-mounted solar panels, public lighting, landscaping, cycle parking, and upgraded site drainage and services.
Meath County Council will now consider the application, with a decision expected in the coming months.
