Illegal parking near Páirc Tailteann to be clamped as hurling crowds descend on Navan

With large crowds expected in Navan this weekend for the Men’s Senior Hurling semi-finals, supporters going to Páirc Tailteann are being urged to plan their parking carefully and avoid causing disruption to local residents.
Supporters travelling on Sunday are being asked not to park in housing estates close to the stadium, with Gardaí warning that illegally parked vehicles will be clamped.
Director of Service for Community Barry Lynch said: “Following on from our messages for Make Way Day last week, where we asked people to make way on our streets for people with disabilities and highlighted the issues associated with obstacles on footpaths, we are now advising that Illegal parking also results in blocked footpaths and cycle lanes.”
“This means that vulnerable road users such as wheelchair users, the visually impaired and pedestrians with or without buggies, as well as cyclists, are forced out onto the roadway.”
A number of public and private car parks across Navan will be open to accommodate match-goers:
Meath County Council Operated Car Parks
Meath County Council Offices (Railway Street)
Park and Ride Facility on N51 behind St. Patrick’s Classical School
Brews Hill (beside St. Joseph’s Mercy Secondary School)
