Glenveagh secures planning permission for more than 500 new homes in Meath

One of Ireland’s largest housebuilders has been granted planning permission by Meath County Council for a significant new residential development in Navan that will see the delivery of 544 new homes.
Glenveagh Homes is set to build new homes along with childcare facilities, green spaces, and key infrastructure improvements across a site that covers approximately 15.1 hectares.
The project features a mix of homes designed to accommodate a wide range of household types. Plans include 260 houses, comprising a selection of two-, three-, and four-bedroom homes.
In addition, five apartment buildings will deliver 198 new apartments, ranging in height from three to six storeys and offering a mix of one- and two-bedroom units. A further 30 duplex apartments and 56 units within three-storey corner blocks will provide additional one-, two-, and three-bedroom options.
Meanwhile two new creches are also planned, as well as open spaces, playgrounds, and communal areas. The scheme also makes provision for 875 car parking spaces and 581 bicycle spaces.
Three new junctions will be created along Academy Street, alongside a new pedestrian entrance from the Dublin Road (R147). A signalised junction and improvements to the R147 are also planned to enhance traffic flow and safety.
Importantly, the northern access road has been designed with the future development of an adjoining school campus in mind.
Environmental sustainability and heritage preservation are said to be the key elements of the proposal. Advanced attenuation systems will manage surface water on-site, while landscaping will enhance the development’s integration with its natural surroundings.
To ensure compliance with national environmental and planning regulations, both an Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR) and a Natura Impact Statement (NIS) were submitted as part of the application.
