Funding boost for Meath communities to promote cycling during National Bike Week

Clubs, schools and community groups in Meath are being invited to apply for funding of up to €500 to support events and activities during National Bike Week 2026.
National Bike Week is a nationwide celebration of cycling, encouraging people of all ages and abilities to enjoy the health and social benefits of cycling in a fun and inclusive way.
The funding from Meath Local Sports Partnership (Meath LSP) aims to help local groups deliver initiatives such as family cycle events, school-based activities, bike maintenance workshops, inclusive cycling sessions, and programmes to encourage new or lapsed cyclists to get back on their bikes.
Mary Murphy, CEO of Meath LSP, said: “National Bike Week is a fantastic opportunity for communities across Meath to come together and celebrate cycling in all its forms.”
“This funding allows local clubs, community groups and schools to deliver inclusive and engaging events that encourage people to be more active, try cycling for the first time or simply enjoy getting out on their bike.”
“We would strongly encourage eligible groups to apply and help us make Bike Week 2026 a success across the county,” she added.
Eligible organisations are asked to outline how their projects will promote participation in cycling and contribute to healthier, more active communities.
The closing date for applications is Friday, March 27, at 4pm. Further information can be found on Meath LSP website.
