‘Exciting’ development approved for secondary school in Meath

A significant development is on its way for St Joseph’s Mercy Secondary School, as Meath County Council has granted planning permission for a major new extension to the historic school campus in Navan.
Described by the school on social media as an “incredibly exciting development,” the project includes the construction of a part three-storey, part single-storey building that will house five new general classrooms, specialist teaching spaces, a general-purpose dining area, and a state-of-the-art PE hall.
In addition to the new construction, the plans include the refurbishment and extension of the Mount Saint Carmel Building, a protected structure on the school grounds.
“This is an incredibly exciting development for our school community,” the school said.
“We’re also looking forward to new landscaped external spaces and outdoor learning areas to enhance the connection between the buildings and improve the quality of life for our students,” they added.
