Dunboyne-Maynooth road closure to facilitate €2m water network upgrade

Motorists in the Dunboyne area in Meath are being advised of a road closure on the L1013 Dunboyne Road to facilitate essential works on the Maynooth Water Network Upgrade Project.

The closure will take effect from Tuesday, October 28 to Saturday, November 1, between the R157 Roundabout and Linden Drive.

Diversion routes will be clearly signposted, with emergency and local access maintained throughout the works.

The project, part of Uisce Éireann’s national Growth and Development Programme, involves the installation of 1km of new water mains at a cost of €2m.

The upgrade is designed to increase the supply capacity of the local water network, supporting future housing delivery and economic growth in the Maynooth area.

The works are being carried out on behalf of Uisce Éireann by Coffey Construction and have been under way since late August.

To date, 700 metres of new water mains have been installed. Construction is expected to finish by the end of the year, with final reinstatement works planned for early 2026, weather permitting.

Commenting on the works, Uisce Éireann’s Donal O’Connor said: “We understand that road closures can be disruptive, and we thank the public in advance for their patience and cooperation while we deliver these essential works.”

“This project will bring long-term benefits for the community, supporting housing delivery and economic growth,” he added.
