Calls for improved road signage at junction in Meath

Traffic safety and flow on Beaufort Road in Navan are set to be reviewed as calls grow for improved road signage at the busy Kells Road junction.
The junction, which links the Round O to the N51 and R147, is a key route for both local and commuter traffic.
Without advance directional signs, last-minute lane changes can create congestion and increase the risk of accidents during peak hours, a Fine Gael councillor has said.
Councillor John Duffy submitted a motion requesting that Meath County Council install an advance traffic sign indicating a right-hand turn toward Dublin at the junction.
Speaking at a recent Navan Municipal District meeting, Cllr Duffy said: “This needs to be done so as to prevent dangerous lane hopping in advance of this junction, and at times restricting traffic movement on the inside lane.”
In response, Meath County Council confirmed it will review current signage and traffic patterns.
“Meath County Council will review the signage and traffic movements on the approach from the Round O to the N51/R147 in conjunction with Transport Infrastructure Ireland,” the Council stated.
Upgrading signage at the Beaufort Road junction is expected to improve road safety in Navan, reduce traffic congestion, and provide clearer guidance for motorists navigating one of the town’s busiest routes.
