Approval granted for NUA Healthcare residential care development in Meath village

By Sylvia Omorodion, Independent.ie

Plans to change an existing dwelling from residential use to a community residence in a Meath village have been granted planning permission.

The approval relates to a development by NUA Healthcare Services at Flemington Road, Gormanston.

The project will involve the change of use of the existing house to a community residence, alongside substantial redevelopment works on the site.

The plans include the demolition and removal of an existing rear extension, as well as a shed and greenhouse. A new rear extension to the dwelling will be constructed, in addition to the development of five one-bedroom residential care units on the site.

The permission granted by Meath County Council also provides for revised site access, updated layout and landscaping works, and the installation of a new wastewater treatment system, together with all associated site works.

NUA Healthcare is one of Ireland’s largest private providers of residential and supported living services for people with intellectual disabilities, autism and mental health needs.

The organisation operates services across Ireland and the UK, providing community-based accommodation and support aimed at promoting independent living.

The Gormanston development forms part of the continued expansion of community-based residential care services in the county.
