A major upgrade of the bowling green in Trim has been completed following an investment of more than €100,000 by Meath County Council.

The works, carried out in partnership with Trim Aura Leisure Centre and Meath Bowling Club, involved the full removal and replacement of the existing playing surface and its underlying layers.

The project included the installation of a new high-quality tarmac base, laid to precise gradients and in line with World Bowls specifications.

Comprehensive testing was conducted at each stage of the works, with final surface assessments confirming compliance with international standards.

Cathaoirleach of the Trim Municipal District, Cllr Ronan Moore, said the upgrade represents a significant investment in local recreational infrastructure.

“These upgrades represent an important investment in recreational facilities in Trim,” he said.

"The new surface will significantly improve the playing experience for users and ensures our bowling green meets the highest international standards. We are delighted to deliver this enhancement for the community.”

The facility is now fully operational and ready for use, with expectations that it will encourage increased participation among members of Meath Bowling Club, as well as attract visiting players and local groups.
