Westport’s thinking of Christmas already with a Winter Wonderland planned
Christmas has come around again, and Westport Estate is preparing for its transformation into a magical Winter Wonderland for 2025.
From Saturday November, 15 to Tuesday December, 23, the historic Mayo estate will become a festive backdrop for a Christmas experience designed for the whole family.
Families can look forward to a host of seasonal activities, from meeting Santa Claus in his grotto, where every child will be treated to an early Christmas present, to enjoying a scenic ride on the Wonderland Express Train through the decorated grounds. Inside Westport House, Mrs Claus will be reading Christmas stories by the fire.
Other activities on offer include gingerbread house decorating, festive marshmallow toasting, face-painting and a trip to the Elves Village. Guests will be able to make a Christmas wish at the Wish Tree in Westport House. Complimentary hot chocolate will be available, along with a festive punch for adults.
For families seeking a calmer experience, Westport House is also offering a Sensory Santa event on Wednesday December, 3 which is specially designed to provide a more accessible and relaxed visit.
Tickets cost €19.50 per child, €39.50 per adult and €15 for babies, with a €3 booking fee. Availability is limited and early booking is advised. Tickets can be purchased through the Westport Estate website.
Westport Estate is home to the iconic Westport House, an 18th-century building with over 300 years of family history. The estate spans across 400 acres of landscaped gardens, woodlands, and parkland in County Mayo.
In recent years, extensive regeneration efforts have transformed both Westport House and its surrounding grounds, revitalising the estate while carefully preserving its historic character.
