Popular MidWest Radio presenter set to take up prominent role in Fine Gael

It has been announced that MidWest Radio presenter and Sports Editor Michael D. McAndrew will be leaving the station as he is set to take on a senior organisational role within Fine Gael.
The long‑serving broadcaster, well known to listeners across Mayo and beyond for his GAA coverage on 96.1FM, has been appointed the party’s new regional organiser for the Connacht and Ulster area.
Fine Gael has confirmed the appointment, with Mr McAndrew expected to take up the post in May.
A familiar face at club and county grounds for more than 15 years, he has been at the front of MidWest’s sports output since joining the Ballyhaunis‑based station in 2011.
The Glenamoy native also covers various news and current affairs stories for the station.
Mr McAndrew will succeed John Lohan, who has taken on a similar organisational role for the party in Dublin.
