Mayo politician elected Chair of Regional Health Forum Committee for West and North West

Independent Castlebar councillor Michael Kilcoyne has been elected Chair of the Regional Health Forum Committee for the Regional Health Forum West and North West, it was announced at the body's Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 23 June.
Cllr Kilcoyne, will lead the Committee for the coming term following his election by fellow members at the AGM. He is joined in the role of Vice Chair by Cllr Gerry McMonagle (Sinn Féin) of Donegal County Council.
The appointments came as part of a wider set of elections held at the AGM, which also saw Cllr Michael J. Crowe (Fianna Fáil) of Galway City Council elected Chair of the Regional Health Forum West and North West itself, with Cllr Edel McSharry (Fianna Fáil) of Sligo County Council elected as Vice Chair.
Regional Health Forums bring together elected councillors from local authorities across the region to engage with the Health Service Executive (HSE) on the planning and delivery of health services, acting as a key channel between communities and health management on local healthcare priorities and concerns.
A long-serving member of Mayo County Council, Cllr Kilcoyne has built a reputation over several decades as a prominent voice on housing, rents and health issues in the county, regularly topping the poll in the Castlebar Local Electoral Area.
