The arctic blast of cold weather is set to continue into Tuesday, with Louth coming under another yellow weather warning for low temperatures.

The overnight forecast from Met Éireann predicts temperatures could drop to around -3 degrees, leading to widespread frost and icy patches across Louth.

Motorists are urged to take care when travelling as low temperatures could see icy stretches remaining on some roads.

Louth County Council have published a map of routes which are gritted, but road users are warned that secondary and rural roads may not be covered by the gritting scheme.

The good news is that the current cold snap appears to be coming to an end, with temperatures gradually creeping back up by the end of the week.

Overall it will be a cold and dry to start tomorrow, with frost and icy patches. Outbreaks of rain and drizzle in the west will move eastwards through the morning and early afternoon, becoming patchier as they do. Sunny spells and scattered showers will follow. Highest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees, with mostly moderate southwesterly winds veering northwesterly in the evening.
