Louth County Council unveil new roundabout sponsorship scheme

Louth County Council has announced a new initiative inviting businesses, community groups and individuals to sponsor roundabouts across the county, in a move aimed at enhancing public spaces while offering high-profile advertising opportunities.
The Roundabout Sponsorship Scheme, which will run from 2026 to 2028, will see up to 28 roundabouts and approach roads included in the programme. Many of these locations are situated along some of the county’s busiest routes, carrying significant daily traffic and providing maximum exposure for participating sponsors.
Louth County Council will retain responsibility for the maintenance and landscaping of each roundabout over the sponsorship period, ensuring a consistent and high-quality presentation across all locations. Sponsors, however, will be responsible for producing their own signage, which must meet specified standards and receive prior approval before installation.
Proceeds generated through the scheme will be reinvested directly into the improvement and upkeep of the sponsored roundabouts, helping to create a more attractive and welcoming environment.
The sponsorship agreements will run for a period of three years, with fees starting from €6,000 for standard roundabouts and rising to €15,000 for larger, high-profile sites in key locations such as Dundalk, Drogheda and Ardee. Sponsorship will be awarded based on the highest offer received for each location, with demand expected to be strong given the prominence of many of the included sites.
Expressions of interest are now being invited from parties wishing to sponsor one or more roundabouts. Full details of the scheme, including a list of available locations and application requirements, are available on the Louth County Council Consultation Portal at consult.louthcoco.ie.
Applicants must complete the official sponsorship submission form and submit it by email to roundaboutscheme@louthcoco.ie.
The closing date for applications is 4pm on Tuesday, 23 June 2026.
