Louth councillor’s ‘TownPin’ app shortlisted for two national business awards

An app designed to transform how residents report everyday issues to Louth County Council has earned national recognition, just months after its launch.
TownPin, launched in March 2026 by Independent councillor Ciarán Fisher, has been shortlisted for two categories at the Eir Business Chambers Ireland Awards 2026: Best Customer Experience – Private Sector and Best New Business Award.
The free mobile and web app allows users to report local problems quickly and accurately by dropping a pin on a map, adding a description and uploading a photograph. Issues such as potholes, damaged footpaths, broken street lights, illegal dumping and overgrown vegetation can then be submitted directly.
Since its pilot rollout in Dundalk and across Louth, TownPin has been credited with introducing a more responsive, citizen-led approach to reporting local concerns.
Speaking after the dual nomination, Cllr Fisher said he was “thrilled and honoured” to see the app recognised at a national level.
“These awards are a true benchmark of excellence in Irish business, and to be shortlisted in not one but two categories so soon after launch is a tremendous achievement,” he said.
“It’s especially gratifying to be recognised both as a new business and for customer experience. That validates the impact TownPin is having in helping to make Dundalk a better place, and I’m very grateful to everyone who has used the app and provided feedback.”
He added that the initiative has already influenced how issues are reported locally.
“It has had a knock-on effect on engagement with Louth County Council, which is now very proactive on social media and has since launched its Customer Hub to deal directly with queries,” he said.
TownPin is available at www.townpin.ie and on the iOS App Store, with an Android version expected in the coming weeks.
Winners of the Eir Business Chambers Ireland Awards will be announced at a gala event in the Dublin Royal Convention Centre on 26 June 2026.
