The launch of a new infill housing scheme in Muirhevnamor was praised at the monthly meeting of Dundalk Municipal District.

Cllr. Kevin Meenan paid tribute to the council for the work done on the infill housing project which was launched in the last few weeks.

"It great to have it complete, fantastic work on behalf of the council. It was a flawless event from start to finish from the first turning of the sod to the launch day.”

He added: “It made really good use of land that was derelict for the last thirty odd years, as we now have new homes for people to move into.”

Cllr. Meenan also acknowledged the impact the project has on local residents as the construction work was being carried out, saying: “I think it has been an example of good practice by all concerned.”

The Muirhevnamór Infill Housing Scheme features 11 A2-rated homes, delivered by Louth County Council’s Housing Capital Section as part of the Government’s Housing for All plan. The scheme was funded through the Social Housing Capital Investment Programme (SHCIP).

The development includes three two-bedroom detached bungalows, one three-bedroom detached bungalow, and seven three-bedroom two-storey houses.

A spokesman for Louth County Council said it was: ‘Very important to have had the support of residents and councillors” during the work on the infill housing scheme.
