‘Clock is ticking’ on Ardee bypass forum, says Louth councillor
The Drogheda IndependentThe “clock is ticking” on a new forum supporting the Ardee bypass, councillors heard at the September meeting of the Municipal District.
Cllr. Pearse McGeough asked if any progress had been made on setting up of a new forum, proposals for which had been agreed at their last meeting.
In July Councillors had praised the success of the Slane bypass campaign, saying it could be replicated in Ardee, if a local public forum was to be set up.
“The people of Ardee need to have a say on this really significant issue for the town, plenty of other people have had their say.” said Cllr. McGeough.
Proposals for the N52 Ardee bypass project, which have been in the pipeline for many years, are currently stalled due to legal objections lodged by a local lobby group.
“I’d like to know if any progress has been made in setting up a public forum for those of us who are in favour of the bypass,” said Cllr. McGeough.
"The clock is ticking on this,” he added.
Cathaoirleach, Cllr. Dolores Minogue, who had also given her support to the setting up of a new public forum, said she would revert would be back to the councillors on the matter.
