Kildare nurses celebrated on International Nurses Day 2026

Nurses throughout County Kildare and beyond have been thanked by a local councillor on International Nurses Day 2026 today.
According to the International Council of Nurses (ICN), International Nurses Day is celebrated around the world every May 12, the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth.
As part of the commemoration, the ICN produces and distributes International Nurses Day-related resources and evidence.
Recognising the importance of nurses, Fine Gael Cllr Peggy O’Dwyer, who also has a background in nursing, said that ‘empowered nurses save lives’.
She continued: “Nurses are doing extraordinary work everyday.
“Today, I want to acknowledge the commitment of nurses and say thank you.”
