Call for upgrades to this Kildare playground

A local representative has called for upgrades to be carried out at one County Kildare playground.
The request was heard at the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District meeting, which took place on Wednesday, June 17 last.
Fianna Fáil councillor Brian O’Loughlin made the request via the submission of a motion, but was unable to attend the meeting.
As a result, his party colleague (and Mayor of the MD), Cllr Noel Heavey, submitted the motion on his behalf.
Specificially, Mayor Heavey, on Cllr O’Loughlin’s behalf, motioned for KCC to carry out an assessment of Rathangan Playground ‘with a view to upgrading and improving the facility, as it now looks tired and rundown’.
This motion was seconded by Social Democrats Cllr Chris Pender.
In response, KCC said via the report it submitted at the meeting: “An assessment will be carried out to ascertain what improvements are necessary for the playground and the works costed.”
Mayor Heavey in turn told KCC that he would accept the report on Cllr O’Loughlin’s behalf.
