Residential development approved in mid-Kerry town
The KerrymanPlanning permission has been granted by Kerry County Council for a private residental development in Milltown.
Hoztel Hospitality Ltd have been given the green light by the council for their proposal to construct a 12-unit estate on the outskirts of Milltown.
The 0.42-hectare site across the N70 from the Kilcolman New Cemetery is occupied by a single derelict house which is proposed to be demolished.
In its place is set to go two housing blocks, totalling 12 two-bed residential units, each with rear gardens.
The application form lists 12 parking spaces are to be provided, along with a significant green area acting as a buffer between the development and the N70.
In accordance with Part V planning obligations, two of the units are proposed to facilitate social housing.
The only objector to the plans raised concerns of the rapid development of Milltown in recent years and the lack of facilities and amenities to cope with the influx of new residents.
They also claimed the rate of crime had “increased dramatically” in Milltown.
The application was granted subject to 21 conditions.
