Kerry bus pilot to be extended into autumn
The KerrymanA bus pilot scheme in Killarney has been extended following praise by ministers and local politicians.
TFI Anseo Local Link, Killarney, will continue to operate into the autumn, with a final report on the pilot due in December.
Since its launch in August last year, the service has supported over 82,000 passenger journeys through three buses operating through a smart routing system.
Unlike traditional bus services, TFI Anseo travels wherever passengers need to go within its local service area.
The children minister and Kerry TD, Norma Foley, welcomed the news.
“I welcome the extension of the TFI Anseo pilot service in Killarney. It has been very positively received, and we look forward to the outcome of the review,” she said.
It comes after the transport minister hailed the pilot as ‘very successful’ and pledged to assess the application for extension.
Recent data showed that between August 2025 and June 2026, over 77,000 trips were facilitated by the service – roughly an average of five trips an hour.
