Four bus stop upgrades are nearing construction stage for the Castleisland/Corca Dhuibhne Municipal District as the infrastructure improvements are rolled out across the county.

Stops in Lispole, Castlemaine, Milltown and Inch are at design stage, with a further six planned for the Dingle peninsula.

Following approval from Transport Infrastructure Ireland, the four at design stage will go to councillor approval and then to construction.

Pedestrian crossings will be incorporated at some of the locations.

A consultant has also been tendered for upgrades at Baile an Fheirtéaraigh, Ceann Trá, Dún Chaoin, Camp Junction, Brandon and Castlegregory, which are expected to move to design stage shortly.

The stops are funded by the NTA’s Bus Stop Enhancement Programme which provided €500,000 last year to address 94 locations across the county.

Castleisland and Corca Dhuibhne’s improvements come after Listowel Municipal District councillors approved plans for bus infrastructure at Abbeydorney, Ballyduff, Ballylongford, Causeway and Moyvane.

The council said further bus stops would be proposed for North Kerry by the end of 2026, with construction to start in next year.
