Update 4 – October Bank Holiday Roads Policing Operation, Thursday 22nd October to Tuesday 27th October 2026
An Garda Síochána conducted a Roads Policing operation from 22nd to 27th October 2026. Two fatalities were reported during the operation, bringing the total road fatalities for the year to 153. 146 people were arrested for driving under the influence, and over 3,490 drivers were detected for speeding. Notable speeds included 153 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. Gardaí urge road users to adhere to speed limits, avoid driving under the influence, and remain vigilant around vulnerable road users.
