Tractor driver charged after slurry tank chase from Whitegate checkpoint
A man in his 20s was charged with a number of serious road traffic offences after a tractor and slurry tank failed to stop at a Garda checkpoint near Whitegate on Saturday 11 April 2026.
Gardaí said the tractor approached a cordon checkpoint on the way into Whitegate shortly after 2pm and kept going when directed to stop. Officers followed with blue lights and sirens. The tractor swerved into the opposite lane as it tried to get away, putting other road users in danger.
Uniformed and plain-clothes Gardaí in marked and unmarked cars stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver. He was due before Midleton District Court on Thursday 16 April 2026.
