Ten year plan for popular Galway park being developed

By Emma F. Smith, Independent.ie

A ten-year plan for Renville Park in Oranmore has begun with a public consultation phase.

The park, jointly owned by Galway City and County Council, is both a wildlife habitat and an important recreational area for locals and visitors.

Funding from the Department of Rural and Community Development has enabled the County Council to commission a Sustainable Development Plan for the site.

The first stage of this masterplan involves a series of public consultations with landscape architects Cunnane Stratton Reynolds, the council, local stakeholders, and members of the public.

These consultations began on July 3, 2025, and will run through the week of July 15.

The public is invited to share feedback on the outdoor space either in person or by emailing regeneration@galwaycoco.ie.

Once the initial proposals are drafted, a second consultation will take place to provide more information on the feedback received and the emerging vision for the park.
