Public consultation opens on 14-home extension to Galway city estate

By Emma F. Smith, Irish Independent

A proposal for 14 new council homes on the Clybaun Road in Galway city is open for submissions.

Galway City Council published plans for the development on August 13 under the Part 8 planning process. The housing scheme is intended to connect with a previously approved development of 61 homes in the same area.

The proposed development comprises six one- and two-bedroom apartments and eight terraced houses.

As part of the project, an existing vacant dwelling, outhouses and garage would be demolished, while amendments to the previously granted development include changes to the vehicular and pedestrian access road from Clybaun Road as well as the landscaping layout, to provide access and parking for the new homes.

The plans will remain on public display until September 11 and public submissions are open for receipt until 4pm on September 28.

Following consideration of the submissions received, council officials are expected to bring the proposal before councillors for approval at the November plenary meeting.

Submissions can be made online, by post or in person. Further information is available on the Galway City Council website.
