Plans to turn former Galway city betting shop into guesthouse

Planning permission is being sought to turn an old commercial space in Galway city into a seven-room guesthouse.
Donmill Limited put forward a planning permission on May 28 requesting a change of use of an old betting shop in Woodquay in order to develop a guesthouse.
The plans include the development of seven en-suite guestrooms across a ground, first, and second floor.
If approved, the ground floor will be renovated into one en-suite room, a lounge, yard, and a fully accessible washroom. Four rooms will be on the first floor and the remaining two will be on the second floor in the reverted attic space.
The commercial unit on the ground floor was previously the site of Galway Bay Psychotherapy however, previous planning permissions dating back to the 1980s show its permitted use as a betting office. Donmill Limited stated on the plnning application that the change of use is from an existing commercial premises to a guesthouse.
Galway City Council is set to make a decision by July 22.
