Plans for Galway bakery’s new car park deemed invalid after failing to include key documents

Planning permission put forward by a Galway bakery for extended car parking at its storefront has been deemed invalid.
The Foods of Athenry in Oldcastle sought approval from Galway County Council to take a section of the field opposite their store and create a car park that will serve over 20 cars.
The application, submitted by the owner, reads that no structure is be erected, only surfacing works to accommodate cars.
“As our bakery expands so too does the number of employees we have. We do not have sufficient on-site parking for the employees with many parking on the road,” the application read.
The car park will be intended for visitors and employees.
However, the application was not considered due to a lack of submitted information. Planning offices reported an invalid description in the application form, insufficient information on the site layout plan, and no drawings submitted with the plans.
In addition, the planning office recommended the applicant get a planning agent or engineering consultant to assist with the proper submission of this planning application.
The application was submitted on March 25 and deemed invalid five days later.
The Foods of Athenry are encouraged to submit a fresh planning proposal, paying the appropriate fees, with the necessary contents.
