Galway TikTok personality enters by-election race

A TikTok presence and Westside man has come forward to bid in the Galway West by-election.
Michael Ryan, also known as Legal Eagle on TikTok, has announced via social media that his name will be on the ballot for the upcoming election as an independent.
Announcing his candidacy, he was a sharp criticiser of other candidates who were not present for the rolling oil protests at the Docks in Galway.
“I stood with the people, and I showed you the truth. I always show you the truth,” he told his followers. “And I promise to still show you the truth if you vote for me in the Galway by-elections.”
He later asked his followers to share their opinion on how he should run his campaign.
His TikTok account has 14,000 followers.
Mr Ryan studied law at the University of Galway stating that “for four years [he] studied under the same principles and guidance as the Burke’s,” referring to Enoch Burke and family.
The other candidates at this time are: Sinn Fein’s Mark Lohan, Independent Ireland Councillor Noel Thomas; Independent Councillor Tom Welby; Green Party representative Niall Murphy; Independent Sheila Garrity; Labour Councillor Helen Ogbu; Aontú’s Orla Nugent; Social Democrats candidate Míde Nic Fhionnlaoich; Fine Gael’s Seán Kyne; Independent Mike Cubbard; Fianna Fáil’s Cillian Kean; Irish People Party’s AJ Cahill; People Before Profit Denman Rooke.
